Sergeant Louis New serves as the Compliance Examiner for the City of Cordele and is responsible for the enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Cordele. The Compliance Examiner is responsible for conducting investigations, assist with the approval process of the issuance of business permits, event permits, monitoring alcohol establishments and businesses, and assist with the training to area merchants in hope to prevent the sale of alcohol to persons underage.  Additionally, Sgt. New will make sure that those conducting business within the City of Cordele are in possession of an Occupational Tax Certificate (business license), Certificate of Occupancy, Taxi Licenses, and Alcohol License (when applies) and aid in the collection of delinquent excise taxes and bad checks. The Compliance Examiner will also ensure all vehicles for hire are inspected and are safe to conduct any transportation for the public. This officer will also serves delinquent property tax notices, city warrants (make arrest) and deliver summons from the Municipal Court.  Additionally, the division is responsible for the security of the during city meetings as required.
